MoJo Active Unifies Ecommerce Operations
for Suzuki Outboard Team
See how we migrated a key storefront to Shopify and synced platforms to create massive operational efficiencies.
Streamlining a Long-Time Client’s Operations
Suzuki Outboard Team is a key retail component of Cumberland Watersports, Inc., a large marine and watersports business, and operates alongside OnlineOutboards.com. As a long-time MoJo Active client, their business had grown to span separate ecommerce platforms: OnlineOutboards.com on Shopify and Suzuki Outboard Team on BigCommerce. The client, who manages a busy, high-volume business, was far more comfortable and efficient operating within the Shopify ecosystem. They returned to MoJo Active with a clear operational goal: unify their digital ecommerce ecosystem onto a single platform.
The High Cost of Disconnected Platforms
The primary challenge was operational inefficiency. Managing two different platforms required separate workflows and training, creating time-consuming tasks and brand confusion.
The most significant pain point was inventory. With no direct sync between the platforms, our team performed manual inventory updates twice a week by cross-referencing OnlineOutboards.com's stock. This manual process was inefficient and created a lag in data accuracy. And because both stores fed into a single email account, Suzuki Outboard Team customers were receiving marketing emails with OnlineOutboards.com branding, creating a confusing, disjointed customer experience.
Primary Objectives:
- Migrate Suzuki Outboard Team from BigCommerce to Shopify to create a single, unified backend.
- Implement an automatic inventory sync between the OnlineOutboards.com and Suzuki Outboard Team stores to eliminate manual updates.
- Create perfect brand consistency between the two stores with a shared, high-quality theme.
- Enable new, branded email automations for Suzuki Outboard Team within Klaviyo.
- Brandon M., Cumberland Watersports, Inc.MoJo Active expertly managed the migration of our Suzuki Outboard Team ecommerce site from BigCommerce to Shopify, overseeing every detail of the process with remarkable efficiency and ease. Their capable team made the transition seamless, and this high standard of service has consistently defined all of our collaborations with MoJo Active.
A Unified Platform, A Seamless Solution
Having successfully redesigned the client's main OnlineOutboards.com store on a new Shopify 2.0 theme, our team saw a perfect opportunity. Instead of reinventing the wheel, our strategy was to clone the new, high-performing OnlineOutboards.com theme and rebrand it for Suzuki Outboard Team, ensuring immediate visual and functional parity.
Our integrated team of developers, designers, and project managers managed the entire process, from platform migration to post-launch support, turning a complex operational tangle into a streamlined solution.
Key components of the solution included:
- Platform Migration & Theme Cloning: We managed the full migration of Suzuki Outboard Team from BigCommerce to a Shopify 2.0 theme. By exporting and applying the new OnlineOutboards.com theme, we reduced development time and achieved the client's goal of a consistent look, feel, and backend experience.
- Automated Inventory Syncing: We implemented Syncio Multi-Store Sync, a Shopify app that connects the product catalogs of OnlineOutboards.com and Suzuki Outboard Team. This lets the client manage all products, descriptions, and inventory from their main OnlineOutboards.com store, with all changes syncing to Suzuki Outboard Team in real-time.
- Advanced Navigation & Filtering: To help customers find highly specific motors, we implemented the Buddha Mega Menu app for custom, image-rich navigation. We also leveraged Shopify Metafields to build advanced product filtering by horsepower, shaft length, and other rich content.
- Strategic Integrations: We can now deploy dedicated, Suzuki Outboard Team-branded Klaviyo automations (like welcome and abandoned cart flows), unlocking a new, automated revenue stream.
- Chris Johnson, Technical Project Manager, MoJo ActiveUnderstanding the platform’s capabilities before design begins is key. It allows us to maximize native features and build a powerful, maintainable site much more efficiently.
Efficiency Unlocked, Branding Aligned
The migration was a smooth success, resolving long-standing operational headaches and immediately positioning the Suzuki Outboard Team brand for new growth. The first major test—the client’s first-ever Cyber Week sale—was approved without hesitation, based on the project’s success.
- Massive Operational Efficiency: The client now manages both stores from a single, familiar Shopify login. The Syncio integration eliminated hours of manual, error-prone inventory work, streamlining their entire fulfillment process and freeing up client budget.
- Total Brand Consistency: Suzuki Outboard Team and OnlineOutboards.com now share an identical, high-performance theme, just with their respective branding. This creates a seamless, professional, and trustworthy experience for customers navigating between the stores.
- New, Automated Revenue Stream: Suzuki Outboard Team now has its own fully-branded Klaviyo automations. These triggers are capturing revenue that was previously lost and building a stronger, brand-specific connection with customers.
- Improved Customer Experience: For the first time, the Suzuki Outboard Team store now offers a full range of accessories in addition to motors, creating new opportunities for increased sales. The new advanced filtering and mega menu allow customers to find the exact product they need much faster, dramatically improving the user journey.
- Deepened Client Relationship: The success of this project reinforced a decade-long relationship built on trust. (And a special THANK YOU to the OnlineOutboards.com team for being a client for many years!) This confidence is reflected in their willingness to invest in new marketing initiatives, like their first-ever Cyber Week sale.
Engineering Momentum Through Efficiency
This project was more than a migration; it was an operational transformation. By looking beyond a single site and assessing the entire ecommerce ecosystem, we eliminated critical friction points, created total brand consistency, and unlocked new, automated revenue streams. This holistic approach engineered sustainable momentum.
